Agriculture and Community Outreach
Beginning the summer of 2011, the Vinita FFA promoted a student-run Farmers Market that would be an event both valuable for the FFA member as well as the community. The market is built around the chapter members’ individual projects. The members bring their products to the market and they receive payment to their own projects. This allows the students to learn planning, production, marketing and communication on the “fruits of their labors.” The benefits to the community and supporters are there is an increased availability of “clean products” and awareness of healthy foods. The Vinita FFA Farmers Market provides a community event where individuals can gather and enjoy supporting young agriculturalists as well as have community interaction.
