Vinita FFA cares about the Vinita Community and promotes good nutrition and variety as well as eating around the table as a family. The Oklahoma Pork Council has an award area dealing with promotion of pork and the nutritional concept of the “other white meat.” Vinita FFA organized a project and developed the image of Flat Pork Chop. This symbol resembled the idea of Flat Stanley and his travels. The Vinita FFA passed out images of Flat Pork Chop to all the Hall Halsell Elementary students and challenged classes to take the image home and take pictures of eating pork and to put it on Vinita FFA Facebook. The images were collected and classes were awarded for support of the program. An assembly was held as well as community contacts were made through the Flat Pork Chop project. Over 1780 images were posted on Vinita FFA through the two-week project timeline. One important aspect which the Flat Pork Chop project supported was the families that focused on eating at home and meal planning. The Vinita FFA chapter won 1st place on the Pork Promotion Award for the Oklahoma State Convention 2017.
