About the play

On Oct. 27, the Vinita FFA chapter, in conjunction with Ketchum FFA and the Ketchum High School music department, will be presenting Oklahoma! the Musical as a celebration of both Oklahoma’s agricultural roots and the 75th anniversary of the musical. The show will be presented as a dinner theatre performance at the Coleman Theatre in Miami, OK, at which the Vinita FFA catering team will be serving a meal. The meal will begin at 5:30 PM, and the show will start at 7 PM. The cast has been selected and they cannot wait to share their production with the public!
Set in Indian Territory just after the turn of the 20th Century, the spirited rivalry between the local farmers and cowboys provides the backdrop for the love story between Curly, a handsome cowboy, and Laurey, a beautiful farm girl. However, her Aunt Eller’s farm hand, Jud, also has eyes for Laurey. The story also follows Laurey’s best friend, Ado Annie, and her struggle in deciding which ‘feller’ she wants to marry: a traveling peddler, Ali Hakim, or an Oklahoma cowboy, Will Parker. The road to true love is anything but smooth, but there is no doubt that these romantics will succeed in making a life together. As the road to romance and the road to statehood converge, these unlikely friends are poised to spend their new lives together in a brand new state: O-K-L-A-H-O-M-A!
